A Note from Mom
In my process of setting up my office for photography and art journaling hobbies, I came across a box of cards that I have been saving. It occurred to me that there were probably pictures on some of these cards that might be great for art journaling. Now, periodically, I clean out my card box, but there are always some favorites that make it back into the box. Well, yesterday, I came across an envelope that had copies of my parents' obituaries, and some other items, and I noticed some rather dated, folded notebook pages in the envelope. When I pulled them out and unfolded them, there was Mom's writing--a note she had left us when Dad and she had gone on vacation one year. First reaction was surprise at seeing Mom's handwriting. Second reaction was disappointment that Mom never got to see me as a retired person pursuing interests like music, art, photography--she would have found that pretty cool. Third reaction was, of course, sadness...missing doing the many things that so many of my friends got to do with their mothers, whereas mine was sick so young. Last reaction was happiness to have this silly little note and especially the last few lines. I am anxious to share it with my sister-- and maybe, my daughter who while she is an adult now, still might be too young to understand how this silly little note could mean so much.
