Scary Experience

Friday, June 26, 2015

Well, it was quite an afternoon. Driving home from my swim exercise, I was hit by someone who went through a red light. It happened so fast, I only remember a flash of someone directly in the driver's  window, the crashing sound, swerving over the curb toward a tree, pulling the car to the left and curving right into the Jewel lot. As that van like vehicle shocked me, in seconds scenes from my life flew before my eyes.  My ear was ringing and something had hit my shoulder, and I couldn't figure out why I couldn't see out my window. Then I realized the airbags had gone off, but also that I needed to get out of the car because the gas tank was on my side. Good thought... but my newly replaced hip would not cooperate, because I couldn't swing my leg over the console. Luckily, two very kind women who witnessed the accident came to help me, and with their help I was able to climb out on the passenger's side. An ambulance, fire truck, and police arrived. Fortunately, I didn't have to go to the hospital. I am fine except for being shook up.  I thank God for being with me through this and for the protection provided by my little blue cross that hangs from my rearview mirror--and God, of course.  Now it is time to move on and value each moment.
