Sermons that have Impacted Me
Father Boznos gave a sermon about "The Gift of Forgiveness." The greatest gift you can give anyone is asking for forgiveness and to give your forgiveness. It is the most vulnerable position one can be in--that is truly giving the best gift ever. We owe forgiveness because God forgave each one of us our sins. My favorite quote is "forgiveness is the one thing that makes human society possible." Doing this renews relationships, renews life.
Father Boznos gave another sermon about "Trust in the Lord." It was about the rethinking the word belief. Belief often implies a mental cognition or "I think." So it is not about whether you believe that God exists, but do you trust that He exists. Not, do you believe in prayer, but do you trust that He hears your prayers. Trust implies a relationship, an interaction. "If you have faith like that of a mustard seed you can say to the mountain to get up and move (Mathew)." If I trust that God placed my child under my care, then I must love, cherish, and do the best with this gift from God. If I truly trust that my abilities, my skills, my personality are gifts from the Lord, how can I not use them in a way that gives back to the world, to others--I will be able to move mountains. This sermon touched me.
