Clashing Feelings

Talk about a day that makes one's emotions clash, causing unbalance!
So my day began with "adult play," as I like to call it. Dolores, Kathy C. and I went to breakfast at the Chicago "institution" called Palace Grill where many of the the famous athletes who have played at the United Center often stop in for a meal. Then we went to Johnny's Icehouse to watch the Chicago Blackhawks practice. Watching Coach Quenneville and his assistants manage all these young guys through a variety of drills is the best free entertainment. The challenge of the white ice, streaking bodies, and sometimes, depending where I am standing, plexiglass, all make this photography outing "adult play and fun."
Afterwards, I returned home and downloaded my pics and sent some up to Facebook, but then the news broke.....terrorist attacks in several areas of Paris. The continuous TV reports and social media blasts all screamed the fear, pain, suffering, anger...
...and in a flash "adult play" became adult sadness, regret, sadness, concern, sadness....and the biggest challenge changed from capturing one good picture to digging deep for hope and faith in mankind.

What a world we live in. I feel really bad for today's children - and it's hard not to be cynical about the future. One of the only things about getting old is that we won't be here to see what's to come. Maybe it will be better, but it's hard to hold out that hope when there is so much bigotry, hatred, and narcissism in the world. Let's retreat to our adult play and let the younger people sort out the world. Selfish, but better for my brain!
