Holy Thursday Communion

Thursday, April 28, 2016

This morning I went to church, and before we all went to take communion, Father Panagiotis gave a talk that meant so very much to me. He talked about the importance of Holy Communion and our responsibility to prepare to receive it through fasting, prayer, and service. What really resonated with me, however, is when he spoke about why this responsibility is so important. Father said that when you receive communion, you come to Jesus' table, and he asked if we knew who else was sitting at the table. He said that our parents, grandparents, great grandparents and all the generations before us our at that table. So my mom and dad are there with me every time I receive communion. Who knew? Then he said that also sitting at that table will be all the future generations--they will join us at the table at some point. I am not sure why, but I have thought about this quite a bit since that morning.
