December Nourish Review
Om Durgayay Namah
I revere the nurturing energy of life.
I guess it is time for the yearlong review of my guiding word--nourish. I can't say that I did great, but I can say that I worked on it, and I continue to ..."to revere the nurturing energy of life."
My soul continues to be nourished but not with as much diligence as it should be. I still have a long way to go, but I am persistent.
Now, as for nourishing my body. What can I say? I continue to try. My most successful aspect is that I joined the Lutheran General Hospital Fitness Center, so I am swimming regularly. I love it. The teachers are caring, the people who attend are very friendly, and I love how I feel as soon as I step in the pool. All stress leaves the body and the workouts help improve cardiac and strength and balance. I also continue to cook although the holidays and company have made this interesting.
Creatively, I have a few things going. I signed up for second session of ukulele. It is taught by a new teacher who is wonderful. She is calm, patient, and encouraging. I am not good at playing, but when we play and sing I feel so good and we laugh a lot too. I have attended quite a few plays (which is a separate entry). I also am trying to learn watercolor pencils and do an art journal. Kathy C and I have signed up for a class called "The Tree Spirited Women." Here is the description:
Finally, about nourishing my heart....this is fairly easy for me, although there are spaces in that heart that are lonely. I try to fill the spaces with family gatherings and outings with friends. I love the holiday time when my sister, Aunt Martha, Cosy, and I prep the meals. Those other spaces in the heart are for a later time.
So this will be the final entry on my 2016 word--nourish.
"I do revere the nurturing energy of life."

- I try to read my passages regularly, and attend church regularly.
- Not eating meat on Wednesdays and Fridays has been a struggle, but I am back on the path in that regard.
- One successful aspect is that in November I decided to try to volunteer at least two hours a month at church:
In November I served breakfast and lunch to the IOCM.
In December I served lunch at the Holiday Faire and served time collecting entrance fees.
In January I am scheduled to serve at the Vasilopita luncheon.
I bought two gifts for young adults who are wards of the state.
I am hoping next week to go to grocery store and buy food and essential to drop at Des Plaines pantry, because I heard that they are in great need.
- Probably my most consistent effort is my time spent in prayer, which for me is just talking to God.
Now, as for nourishing my body. What can I say? I continue to try. My most successful aspect is that I joined the Lutheran General Hospital Fitness Center, so I am swimming regularly. I love it. "In this eight-week class on Thursdays, explore personal thought and meaning with creative images and words in an art-journal forum. Readings and discussions of Colleen Baldrica’s “Tree Spirited Woman” and inspiration from nature and ancient wisdom will guide journal entries. You will receive a supply list when you register."

So this will be the final entry on my 2016 word--nourish.
"I do revere the nurturing energy of life."
Beautiful. You are an inspiration. You'll have to write about your idea for the "happy" journal that you are starting in January.
